The construction union will enter administration for a minimum of three years following the passing of legislation by the coalition government. The move comes after allegations of corruption, criminal conduct, and bullying within parts of the union. An independent administrator will take over the CFMU’s construction division while potential life bans for union officials are being considered. The government made several amendments to the bill in exchange for coalition support, a move that was broadly welcomed by the industry.
